09/07/2010 - Day 12

When Alfies school does something well, they do it really well, and today was one of those days. The whole school put on a 'Carnival of Colours', in which the children had to dress in the colours appropriate to the country they had been learning about (in Alfies case, he learnt about China, so his class wore red). They then did a couple of laps parading around the school, whilst shaking or banging the instruments they made at school (made from recycled pots and such like - you wouldn't expect anything less from Lady Bay would you?!). They all gathered back in the playground, and put on a show for the parents. It was a wonderful afternoon of colour, music and children's performances. Something the children all seemed to enjoy, and the parents too! I'm not sure Alfie looked very Chinese..........more like he might mug you for some sweeties!

  1. I was just thinking about this project this morning, so a real treat to find this picture and paragraph about it. It was indeed an inspiring day and in fact the whole preparation in the previous weeks was wonderful too. This is the first picture I've ever seen of it, so thanks for sharing!
